Now strikes loom:
CBA: AUA negotiations with cabin crew failed
In the important Easter travel period, there is now a threat of strikes by AUA cabin crew and flight cancellations. On Thursday, the collective agreement negotiations for around 1000 pilots and 2500 flight attendants came to a temporary standstill.
According to a spokeswoman, the airline offered a salary increase of up to 18 percent for 22 months, while the co-pilots were even offered up to 28 percent. In any case, this was above rolling inflation.
However, the union and the on-board works council wanted more. They continued to demand a 40 percent increase for ten months.
"We hope that there will be no escalation"
According to the spokesperson, AUA wanted to negotiate one day longer. However, the union had said that it felt compelled to take industrial action. "We hope that there will be no escalation," the spokesperson told "Krone". And she added: "We have no desire for our passengers not to have a relaxed Easter vacation." The previous disruptions had already caused nine million euros in damage.
Easter week is an important travel period. Recently, hundreds of flights have already been canceled due to works meetings.
