Referendum on the cross-country arena is now fixed
A third election Sunday in Bad Leonfelden has been fixed. In addition to the EU and National Council elections, a vote on the Weigetschlag cross-country skiing center will be held on 30 June. The project opponents have the required number of signatures for the referendum one week before the deadline.
The deadline for registering signatures for a referendum on the cross-country skiing center in Bad Leonfelden is actually next week. As the required number of signatures was reached on Friday, March 15, the election date can already be set at the municipal council meeting on Monday, March 18.
As it is not possible to combine the election with the European Parliament elections on June 9 after clarification with the authorities, the cross-country ski trail project will be put to the vote on June 30.
My personal contribution to constructive cooperation is that, as mayor, I will no longer support the project.
Bürgermeister Thomas Wolfesberger, ÖVP
Mayor Thomas Wolfesberger (ÖVP) announces that he will no longer support the project: "My personal contribution to constructive cooperation is that I will no longer support the project as mayor. I will not take part in a week-long election campaign of 'sport against climate protection'."
Looking back on heated weeks
The last few weeks have shown how a single decision on an official procedure can create negative sentiment and bring an emotional climate of conflict to the fore. "That can't be good for Bad Leonfelden. I would like to see more cooperation instead of conflict," says Wolfesberger.
