Escape to the cabin
Bee attack during tennis hit – beekeeper had to come
Carlos Alcaraz beat Alexnader Zverev 6:3 and 6:1 on Thursday to reach the semi-finals of the Indian Wells Masters. The match had been interrupted by a bee attack that required the help of a beekeeper.
At 1:1 in the first set, Alcaraz was preparing to serve when he looked around in irritation. Was that just a bee? And is that one over there too? The Spaniard and the audience quickly realized: this could get tricky. TV footage shows how a huge swarm of bees suddenly flies through the arena, Alcaraz quickly takes cover and flees into the cabin, his opponent Zverev does the same.
Apparently the insects were after the "Spider Cam", as thousands of bees covered the camera mounted on ropes.
The action only continued after a beekeeper sucked the bees away and freed the arena from the invasion.
