On the road at 247 km/h
First car acceptance now also in Lower Austria
After the first speeding ticket was issued in Vienna at the beginning of March, a speeding driver (21) in Lower Austria has now also had to hand in his car. He was speeding along the A22 at a whopping 247 km/h instead of the permitted 130 km/h on Saturday.
Highway police officers followed the speeding driver and stopped him at the Korneuburg rest stop. The car was provisionally confiscated and the driving license of the man from the Mistelbach district was taken away.
Charges filed
The man will be reported to the district authority. According to the police, this is probably the first case in Lower Austria in which a speeding driver had to surrender his car.
Another possible confiscation in Vienna
Another driver in Vienna is again threatened with the confiscation of his car. The man had been driving at 117 km/h instead of the permitted 50 km/h during police speed measurements on Laaerbergstraße in Vienna-Favoriten on Friday evening.
New amendment since March 1
Since March 1, speeding vehicles can be confiscated on the spot and subsequently auctioned off in the event of blatant speeding. The basis for this is the 34th amendment to the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO). Provisional confiscations have already been carried out in other federal states.
