New super team
Red Bull gets fully involved in the Tour de France
Red Bull took over the Bora-Hansgrohe racing team in February. Not much is officially known about the Austrian drinks multinational's plans for the German World Tour cycling team. According to the "Gazzetta dello Sport", Red Bull is getting fully involved with the Tour de France.
Since 2017, Bora (kitchen ventilation technology) and Hansgrohe (sanitary technology) have been the name sponsors of team boss Ralph Denk's professional team. The contracts were only extended from 2023 to 2027. However, it is hardly conceivable that Red Bull will be content with the role of pure financier or co-name sponsor for so long.
Now the Italian sports newspaper "Gazzetta dello Sport" is reporting that the drinks multinational is to become fully involved in the Tour de France. The team around captain Primoz Roglic is to appear there for the first time with jerseys and racing bikes in the new branding. The Tour offers the biggest stage for this.
Three sponsor names allowed
According to the rules of the World Cycling Union, a team is allowed to have three title sponsors. Due to their close relationship with team boss Denk, Bora and Hansgrohe are likely to have agreed to accept Red Bull as title sponsor and remain in the team.
Red Bull's involvement will only increase the value of the best professional cyclists."
Fahrer-Manager Alex Carera
For Alex Carera, one of the leading rider managers, Red Bull's entry into professional cycling is expected to have a big impact on the rider transfer market for 2025: "The entry of Lidl as title sponsor last year changed a lot and increased team budgets, as did the recent entry of Decathlon. The entry of Red Bull will only further increase the value of the best professional cyclists."
