Sparkling Oscar looks
These are the most expensive dresses of all time
Hardly any other star event attracts as much attention as the annual Oscars. This makes it all the more important for the stars to make a good appearance on the red carpet. Over the years, the most beautiful gowns have been presented. For some of them, however, they also dug deep into their pockets. Here are the three most expensive Oscar gowns.
Cate Blanchett 2007 in Armani Privé
Cate Blanchett came in third place with her anthracite gray gown adorned with Svarowski crystals.
The dress comes from Armani Privé and secured the actress one of the most beautiful looks of the evening. However, it came at a price: the dress is worth a whopping 200,000 dollars.
Nicole Kidman in 1997 in Dior
Gold-green satin and fine floral embroidery. A dress that not only looks good at the Oscars, but is also worth two million dollars. Nicole Kidman takes second place with her 1997 Dior gown.
Jennifer Lawrence in Dior in 2013
Hollywood darling Jennifer Lawrence not only won an Oscar in 2013, she also wore the most expensive look of all time. The light pink, strapless dress is said to be worth four million dollars. It also comes from the house of Dior.
However, the princess dress was probably not very practical. When Lawrence went to accept her Oscar for "Best Actress in a Leading Role" in "Silver Linings", she experienced every actress's nightmare: she tripped over the hem of her dream gown.
"I was very nervous and also very superstitious. I didn't even want to think about the possibility that I could win," Lawrence told the "Absolutely Not" podcast at the time. Then they said my name and I was in shock. I don't remember what that moment felt like. Then I fell down and everything in my head was erased. My brain was empty."
Whether practical or not - with her dream dress by Dior, the likeable actress made it to number one of the most expensive Oscar looks of all time.
