Operation with breathing protection: photovoltaics on fire

Workers at a metalworking industrial company in Villach had already started to extinguish the fire on Thursday afternoon when the main fire station and the Judendorf fire brigade arrived: however, breathing protection was required for the fire in an inverter of the PV system under the roof. 

Employees of the Villach-based company reported that a fire had broken out in a factory building. The alarm was immediately raised for the main fire station and the Judendorf fire brigade. Together with the company personnel, the firefighters were able to quickly locate the source of the fire: an inverter of a PV system under the roof.

Wearing breathing protection, the professionals started to fight the fire. They used the turntable ladder to get to the top to check everything. The roof had to be partially opened with a saw. A thermal imaging camera was used to search for any embers.
