Children find 1200-year-old coin in the Sea of Galilee

Children have found a 1200-year-old coin during an archaeology taster course in Kursi National Park on the Sea of Galilee. 

They discovered the coin from the Islamic period near the ruins of a Byzantine monastery from the fifth century.

Kursi is considered the site of the biblical miracle in which Jesus drove the demons of a possessed man into a herd of pigs, which then plunged into the lake.

Significant discoveries at Kursi Monastery include magnificent mosaic floors, pottery shards, coins and architectural remains.
