Around 60,000 employees in the electrical and electronics industry can breathe a sigh of relief. In the third round of negotiations, employers and the trade union were able to agree on a new collective agreement. Wages and salaries under the collective agreement will rise by 7.5%.

The unions PRO-GE and GPA announced on Monday evening that 6.8 percent is planned for actual wages. The increases will take effect on May 1.

The new collectively agreed minimum wage / minimum basic salary amounts to EUR 2406.56 gross per month. Apprentice wages, allowances and travel allowances will each increase by 7.5 percent. The allowance for the second shift will be increased by 78 percent to one euro per hour.

Qualification offensive agreed
"It was only possible to reach an agreement in this round and at this level thanks to the works meetings," said the union's chief negotiators Reinhold Binder (PRO-GE) and Karl Dürtscher (GPA) in a press release. The collective bargaining partners have also agreed on a qualification offensive. Over the next few years, employees without relevant vocational training are to be qualified as skilled workers.
