Winter is far from defeated in Tyrol

April, April - as we all know, it does what it wants. The almost 30 degrees at the beginning of the month and last weekend are literally water under the bridge. These days it's cold again in Tirol - and white in many places. There is no improvement in sight in the coming days. It's below zero in the morning. It's also chilly in the rest of Austria, only slightly warmer in the east with daily highs of 11 degrees.

Snowflakes, snowflakes - in the past few days and also on Sunday it snowed in many places in Tyrol. In some places, Mother Hulda also provided a good portion of fresh snow. More than some people would like.

Not all that unusual for April. However, as the 30 degree mark has already been broken this month, "weather-sensitive" people are not to be envied.

Snowfall at up to 600 meters
And even in the coming days, the signs are anything but spring. "From midday on Sunday, the tendency towards showers and the intensity of precipitation will increase significantly from the north-west in North Tyrol. Depending on the intensity, the snow line will be between 600 and 1100 meters. The sun will only appear briefly in between," says GeoSphere Austria.

Cloudy and bitterly cold start to the week
The new week will also begin with widespread clouds - in North Tyrol with rain and snow showers. The snow line rises to 700 to 1100 meters. In the eastern lowlands, a few rays of sunshine are possible in the afternoon. The lows on Monday will be between minus four and plus one degrees, the highs just between three and eight degrees.

The further trend: According to GeoSphere Austria, it will remain "very cloudy to cloudy with light to moderate rain and snow" on Tuesday (snow line: 500 to 1000 meters). Wednesday will be changeable, as will Thursday. Rain and snow are to be expected again and again. It will be frosty in many places in the morning.

On Tuesday, rain and snowfall will spread to most parts of the country. The daily high will be 9 degrees in eastern Austria. The weather is likely to remain quite persistent on Wednesday and heavy rain is to be expected, especially on the northern side of the Alps and in the north and east. Only on Thursday will there be more sunshine across the country, although brief rain showers are possible in many places during the course of the day.
