Historic castle near Vienna up for sale
The historic Rappoltenkirchen Castle in the district of Tulln (Lower Austria) is currently being offered on an online sales platform for 5.5 million euros. Another luxury property in the Waldviertel region is also looking for a new owner.
Living in a royal ambience! This is now possible at Rappoltenkirchen Castle in a small Lower Austrian village. The listed building was rebuilt between 1869 and 1874 according to the plans of Ringstrasse architect Theophil Hansen and is now for sale on an online platform.
Living in baroque walls
The 5.5 million euro palace complex is located in a 22.8 hectare English landscape park. The building has already been partially renovated, and an immediately usable steward's apartment with approx. 380 square meters of living space has already been refurbished. The new owners can live comfortably in the baroque outbuilding - including a 72-square-meter eat-in kitchen with a 23-square-meter terrace, nine bedrooms and two bathrooms. Rappoltenkirchen Castle also has a small courtyard, a park keeper's cottage, a wine cellar and a mausoleum.

Castle scores with top location
The location of Rappoltenkirchen Castle is particularly impressive. Just 35 km from Vienna city center, the castle complex is located in the village of Rappoltenkirchen in the municipality of Sieghartskirchen in the district of Tulln.
The luxury real estate agent Hendrich Real Estate was entrusted with the search for a buyer. The castle has been undergoing renovation since 2009, the estate agent writes on the internet sales platform.
Schwarzenau Castle in the Zwettl district is also repeatedly offered for sale on various internet sales platforms. The magnificent castle has often been the "victim" of a fake advertisement, which unfortunately happens again and again in the industry: a special property is put online. When an interested party contacts you, you talk them out of it and make an alternative offer - which you can actually broker - palatable.
Sales escapades ...
The castle in the heart of the Waldviertel region was partly owned by Jürgen Hesz, one of Austria's leading antiques dealers, until the jewel was sold in mid-2019 to the Bulgarian Monbat Group, which also operated factories in Austria at the time. Initially with plans for the future, these were then discarded - apparently due to a new company direction - and the castle was put up for sale again.
No fake advertisement this time
Lawyer Dr. Bernd Taucher represents the Monbat Group in Austria. When asked by "Krone", he confirmed that the current sale advertisement was actually commissioned by the Monbat Group. Raiffeisen Immobilien is listed as the estate agent for the magnificent castle. Head of Marketing Anita Köninger also confirms the authenticity of the sales advertisement and that they are acting on behalf of the client Monbat Immobilien GmbH.
Interested parties and price mystery
"We have already received a handful of inquiries. That's quite a lot for such an exquisite property," she says. However, she was not allowed to disclose the sale price, which should be available on request, to the "Krone". In the past, the castle has often been offered for ten million or just under ten million euros. According to intensive research, however, the last two sales were for less than five million euros.
