Beer prices:
The Ottakringer Brewery criticizes the price war for beer in retail and emphasizes the value of beer as an agricultural product. According to Tobias Frank, Managing Director of the Ottakringer Brewery, the price of beer is now far too cheap in the stores. The brewery is now focusing on innovations such as lighter beers. In pubs, however, the Krügerl is becoming more and more expensive, so that more and more people are giving up enjoying it in the beer garden. Read here what the "Krone" community thinks about the current beer prices!
Price increase for "an Ottakringer" not justified
Apart from the overwhelming majority who criticize the current prices for beer in restaurants, there were a few voices that could not quite understand the cost increase for the brewery's variety in particular. Christoph3 describes the opinion of our readers very clearly with a question. Seppdahoam has little sympathy for an increase in price. For example, he prefers to consume products from smaller breweries anyway and also reveals his favorite brand.
"I only like beer in restaurants"
ForAlexander1940, the current beer prices in restaurants are not yet a problem, and he prefers healthier alternatives at home. However, further price increases would be a different story.
"Sorry - far too expensive"
As already mentioned, however, most people think that the price of beer in restaurants is now completely out of line. Readerausteiler, for example, refers to the much cheaper prices abroad. He is therefore not surprised that more and more pubs are having to close due to a lack of customers. TasmanianDevil and jedermann23 therefore only fall back on beer offers in the supermarket, as salaries would not be increased in line with price increases. WoodyXXL367b also suspects that this measure might also bring pubs back to their senses.
Does Austria have a "beer problem"?
Although there are only a few of them in comparison, a few of our users do find understanding for the high prices or even a price increase for beer. KEINGESCHWURBEL, for example, denounces the fact that the barley drink is a lot cheaper than non-alcoholic alternatives - in his or her opinion, this is incomprehensible. Mietzekatzen246 and provernunft think that the popular after-work drink is too cheap! Higher prices might even lead to fewer people with alcohol problems. Rumtreiber goes one step further and sees beer as a gateway drug. He calls for consumption to be regulated.
What do you think about beer? Do you think the current prices are now too expensive or do you think they are appropriate, especially in restaurants? Does Austria have a "beer problem"? Which other brands and varieties are among your favorites? Share your opinion with us in the comments!
