For a good cause
30,000 kids are at the start
"Laufen gegen Krebs" organizer can be pleased about a new record number of participants. In addition to schoolchildren, kindergarten children are also running for a good cause for the first time this year.
Exercise in the fresh air - and for a good cause too: last year, around 19,000 schoolchildren raised 47,500 euros for the Lower Austrian Cancer Aid and the Red Cross stem cell donation initiative. And this year, the youngsters are once again taking part in "Running against cancer". This time with even more power, as kindergarten children are taking part for the first time alongside schoolchildren. They will be running together for a good cause until April 19.
The initiative sends out a strong signal in the fight against cancer and raises awareness of this insidious disease.

Raising awareness of cancer
The so-called school challenge is taking place for the third time this year. In addition to charitable aspects, the fundraising initiative also raises awareness of cancer. "Our 'Running against Cancer' school challenge promotes team spirit and exercise among children and young people, raises awareness of this insidious disease and also raises money for cancer patients," explains patron and Provincial Councillor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister (ÖVP).
And this year's event has set a new record: "More than 30,000 runners have registered so far," says Teschl-Hofmeister. This not only guarantees a special running event, but also provides valuable help for affected people. In addition to the healthy competition, there is also plenty of fun to be had. Organizer Christian Kohl is looking forward to it.
