Shooting deadline survived
Two wolves can howl again in the Mühlviertel region
The two wolves that were released for shooting in Sandl and Unterweißenbach have survived the death deadline. Now they are protected again. If there are any further incidents of concern, a shooting order will be issued again, but only for a limited period.
The last culling order was valid until Holy Saturday. And that was in and around Unterweißenbach. Here, an Isegrim had got in the way of parents and their three-year-old child on a walk and was "difficult to scare away". As several wolves had been prowling around a farm nearby shortly beforehand, the hunters were ordered to kill the animal. However, the four weeks passed without the wolf showing itself before a run and it survived the shooting deadline.
Five days earlier, the "high-risk wolf" from Sandl, which was also on the kill list, had already escaped pursuit for the time being. It had roamed twice near an inhabited house in the immediate vicinity of the Czech border and had approached a Mühlviertler, who had a dog with him, at leash distance.
Photos from the Rohrbach district
Incidentally, the last confirmed wolf sightings were reported from the district of Rohrbach. Here, an Isegrim was photographed in Atzesberg and Sarleinsbach at the end of March.
