Tighter controls
Easter brings a busy travel weekend
Many day trippers and vacation travelers will be on the road in Tyrol in the coming days. The traffic police are warning of heavy traffic with obstructions and are announcing increased controls, which will mainly affect motorcyclists.
The police are expecting a high volume of traffic on Tyrol's roads over the upcoming Easter weekend. Massive obstructions are to be expected on most through routes, but also on the roads to the winter sports areas.
"Will provide information about obstructions"
The well-known routes to the south and the associated access routes to Tyrol via the Fernpass and Co. will be particularly affected. "If there are any obstructions on Tyrol's roads, we will of course inform you immediately," promises Enrico Leitgeb, deputy head of the provincial traffic department.

Motorcyclists in the focus of checks
He also urged people to adhere to the applicable rules - there will be increased checks on travel and excursion traffic from Maundy Thursday to Easter Monday. The focus will be on motorcycles. "Targeted traffic monitoring measures are intended to hold particularly reckless road users accountable," Leitgeb explains, adding: "The purpose of these checks is to ensure that all road users reach their destination accident-free."
The police advise bikers to wear safety equipment and to check the condition of their two-wheelers carefully before setting off. And: "Ride defensively, especially at the start of the motorcycle season!"
