Report grievances in hospitals without fear

Working conditions in the health and care sector sometimes defy description. However, employees are reluctant to make the prevailing abuses public for fear of personal consequences. The Chamber of Labor is now taking anonymous reports from the healthcare sector.

Too few staff, too little time for patients or care home residents, no breaks - more and more employees in the health and care sector are overworked. "But for fear of consequences from superiors, many don't dare to say so openly," says Markus Wieser, President of the Chamber of Labor in Lower Austria.

Reporting office for whistleblowers
For this reason, the employee representatives are now opening up an opportunity for those affected to report organizational grievances in hospitals and nursing homes in a protected form: the "Help Gesundheit" reporting office. In future, whistleblowers will be able to report their observations or experiences that something is going wrong in hospitals or care centers completely anonymously by e-mail or via an online form on the Chamber of Labour's website.

Many throw in the towel
"Previously, this was often countered by the fear of internal consequences for the individual. Many of those affected preferred to give up their job when they could no longer go on," says Wieser, describing cases from everyday life: "But this must be prevented in future." It is important to help employees in the health and care sector to achieve the best possible working conditions to prevent overwork and the resulting consequences for patients.

Anonymous or strictly confidential
Reports to the "Help Gesundheit" reporting office can be made anonymously. However, those affected who wish to receive personal support from the Chamber of Labor should provide a telephone number or e-mail address - all of which are strictly confidential.
