Provincial fund: 960 jobs secured at companies

Athena Burgenland Beteiligung AG is one of the province's most important economic policy instruments. The venture capital fund supports private companies on their growth path.

Following his recent intervention, Governor Hans Peter Doskozil still has to take it easy. However, he is visibly pleased with the current interim results of the Athena investments: "Last year, around 960 jobs were secured as a result." The venture capital fund provides small and medium-sized enterprises with equity financing in order to strengthen the regional economy.

In this way, we provide efficient and targeted support to fast-growing small and medium-sized enterprises in Burgenland.

The support measures have made it possible to help many companies both in difficult phases and to support them in their expansion. "We are therefore a very strong driving force for the regional economy and many small and medium-sized enterprises, which can grow and be even more successful thanks to this partnership," said a delighted Doskozil.

 Fund holds stakes in 15 companies
According to fund managing director Klaus Stinakovits, the fund supports companies in a wide range of sectors - from Kittsee to Kalch. The investments comprise a total of 15 companies. These include Lumitech Lightning Solution GmbH in Jennersdorf, a leading developer of LED technologies, and Austria Pet Food GmbH, which operates a modern production plant for animal feed in Pöttelsdorf. "We primarily invest in fast-growing and technology-oriented companies that have positive prospects for the future," adds Managing Director Georg Schönbauer.

Another successful example was the investment in Fenz-Software GmbH in Pinkafeld. The company is one of the most successful providers of food service services in the German-speaking region. In the end, the investment was even sold on to a European group of companies at a profit - including a location guarantee. "We can now invest this money in other companies," says Doskozil.
