Rangnick to Bayern? “Not out of the question”

German soccer expert Marcel Reif said in the Bild show "Reif ist live": "I don't think it's out of the question that Ralf Rangnick will become Bayern Munich's new coach in the summer." The fact is: Bayern decision-makers Max Eberl and Christoph Freund know Rangnick very well. In addition, the Austrian team boss lives in Salzburg in Obertrum am See and would not be far from Munich.

As always, Rangnick ignores all speculation. Instead, he held a workshop on team building and motivation at the Performance & Competence Center of the Austrian Golf Association (ÖGV) in Oberwaltersdorf. His carbines have long been legendary. After the 4:1 opening victory in the European Championship qualifier against Azerbaijan, he personally handed them out to all players and coaches. The name is engraved. It also features the outline of Austria and an important European Championship date (not from the preliminary round). Rangnick said at the time: "Let's always keep our common goal in mind! Not just around the international matches, even when we don't see each other."

The national team as a rope team
The motto of the carabiner campaign is rope team! Rangnick emphasized: "We are a team, that's why we have this carabiner. From now on, everyone is important for us to achieve our goal. Everyone has to play their part. And everyone must be able to rely on each other." Every newly nominated player will also receive a carabiner. In Oberwaltersdorf, the German added with a smile that he had to travel to several DIY stores for the carabiners.

"You have to reach the hearts of the employees"
ÖGV Sports Director Niki Zitny noted after the presentation he had arranged: "The way he deals with each team player individually, motivates everyone with great appreciation and many small pieces of the puzzle is very impressive." The team boss repeatedly sends personal messages to each player, wishes everyone a happy birthday and has videos produced. In previous lectures for managers, Rangnick always emphasized: "To convince employees of a vision and take them on a journey in the long term, you have to inspire them, touch them. I would even go so far as to say that you have to reach their hearts and souls."

This is how the ÖFB song "Hoch gwimmas (n)imma" was created
Former professional golfer Martin Wiegele, now a playing and touring coach for the association, said: "Rangnick doesn't just do his job. He is really interested in the personality of each individual player and their progress." The Styrian, who presented Rangnick with a golf tee from his favorite club AS Roma, really liked the story of how the ÖFB song "Hoch gwimmas (n)imma von AUT of Orda" came about: "After the win against Italy in November 2022, the players sang Austropop songs on the bus. At the hotel, the team manager ordered an extra round because the atmosphere was so good. That's when he had the idea for his own song."

Wiegele could very well imagine Rangnick at Bayern. "He's a guy like the two Munich triple coaches Hansi Flick and Jupp Heynckes. But it would be even better if he stayed in Austria."

"Comes across as very likeable"
After the presentation, the team manager was a pupil and several national coaches analyzed Rangnick's golf swing, who had come to the GC Fontana with his ÖFB golf bag. Austria's golf pioneer Markus Brier, who once played for FC Stadlau as a six-year-old, says: "It's not easy when so many people are looking at your club. But Ralf Rangnick was very relaxed and had fun. He comes across as very likeable."
