A cowardly act of revenge?
Attack with rat poison almost killed dog
"Sophie" caught some prepared morsels, the four-legged friend only just survived. The fact that rat poison was placed here could have been a mean act of revenge. Her owner is an active animal rights activist.
Dramatic scenes unfolded in a small village in the district of Tulln: Golden retriever dog "Sophie" had caught rat poison and it was a matter of life and death. The four-legged friend was out with his owner when he discovered the red bits in a meadow on public land. "'Sophie' was on a lead, but - as is typical of her breed - immediately pounced on it," says her owner. Although she reacted quickly, she was unable to prevent the dog from swallowing two pieces.

Die Hundebesitzerin über das Rattengift
It is only thanks to the swift intervention of the experienced dog owner that the dog is still alive today. The woman recognized the seriousness of the situation and took "Sophie" to the nearest veterinary clinic as quickly as possible, where the retriever was immediately made to vomit. For the owner, it was no coincidence that the poison had been spread in this place. She assumes it was an insidious act of revenge due to her role as an active animal rights activist for many years. And she already has a concrete suspicion.
An abandoned farm...
Not far from where the rat poison was found is an abandoned farm that the activist has repeatedly had to deal with in the past. "The owner keeps at least two dogs and up to five ponies, which are often left on their own for days at a time." She has been trying for years to get the animals taken away from him. "I succeeded with one dog, and he has also given up two ponies." After the poison attack, she filed a complaint.
