The death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny "has opened up the abyss of the unlimited power of dictators all over the world", says Belarusian Nobel Prize winner Svetlana Alexievich, expressing great concern for the future of us all. The world must understand that Kremlin ruler Vladimir Putin, "just like Hitler, can plunge the world into a world war".

"The whole world is in deep mourning today. I looked at the news feed of 'Meduza' (Russian media in exile, note) - there are reactions from all over the world: from politicians, writers, musicians. Everyone is shocked. Of course it's a great shock in view of the cruelty we have allowed evil to commit. It is now so out of control that it is doing things we could not even imagine. Even if we knew the nature of this power," Alexievich expressed her horror in an interview with the Belarusian newspaper "Nasha Niva".

Putin "will not stop"
Dictators learn from each other. However, there is hope that now, after Navalny's murder, the world will understand that Putin, like Hitler, could plunge the world into a world war. "He will not stop," warns the Nobel Prize winner.

Ukraine must be given as much support as possible, otherwise we will have to pay an even higher price. "A new Hitler with new technologies will be much worse than what we know from history," the author warned.

Navalny's death seemed impossible
Putin is cruel. He is a KGB agent and not a politician. "That's why you have to trust him with everything," Alexievich warned. "It seemed almost impossible to kill the greatest opponent, the opposition member and politician. A strong personality does not allow that. Because it appreciates a strong opponent. But a weak personality does what we are seeing right now."
