Syrian (19) gets 10 years in prison for attempted murder

A Syrian man (19) received a ten-year prison sentence at the regional court on Wednesday following a gang brawl in Lehener Park in Salzburg on the night of February 1, 2024. 

His Syrian accomplice (19) received three years unconditional, another accomplice (20) twelve months conditional. According to the indictment, the trio stabbed two opponents with knives during the confrontation between two rival groups of Syrians.

Allegations denied
At the beginning of the trial, the defendants largely denied the allegations. However, the court did not believe them and convicted them of attempted murder and intentional grievous bodily harm. The verdicts are not final.
