Eisenberg: DAC stage also for Welschriesling

Origin has many facets and on the Eisenberg, from the 2022 vintage, this will now shimmer in the glass in white as well as red.

In addition to Blaufränkisch, Welschriesling is now also being elevated to DAC status, which occupies the second largest vineyard area with around 90 hectares. The vineyards around Rechnitz and the Csaterberg in particular provide ideal conditions for this variety.

"Welschriesling can do more"
The DAC Welschriesling can therefore not be about the classic sparkling wine. "Welschriesling can definitely do more and this also proves that southern Burgenland in particular is being celebrated more and more by sommeliers," says winemaker Thomas Straka. With the designation of origin, the full potential of the region can now be shown. This is visible in the pyramid of origin, which is divided into regional wines, local wines and vineyard wines, explains winemaker Rainer Stubits.

High quality wines
There is also a mission for the consumer. "We want people to be aware of where the wine comes from," emphasizes Straka. This means that winegrowers can now go into even more depth. The new logo is also intended to pay homage to tradition and the future. "We want to use it to convey the spirit of optimism and the high quality of our wines to the whole world," says DAC Chairman Reinhold Krutzler. 

It is precisely this quality that is getting around on the international market. The Eisenberg is definitely a pioneer in the development of trends.

Wine event in the Ratschen
