Official: Formula 1 presents 2025 race calendar
The Formula 1 calendar is here - and unusually early! The premier class of motorsport officially presented the program for 2025 on Friday.
For the first time since 2019, the Formula 1 season will start in Melbourne again next year. This is according to the calendar published by the premier class of motorsport for 2025 on Friday. The Australian Grand Prix is scheduled for March 16. As this year, there will once again be 24 Grand Prix races. The Austrian Grand Prix will take place on June 29. There will not be a new circuit this time.
"2025 will be a special year because we are celebrating the 75th birthday of Formula 1," said Managing Director Stefano Domenicali, referring to the first season of the racing series in 1950, when there were seven races, six in Europe and one in the USA (Indianapolis).
Postponements due to Ramadan
Next year, the races will be held where they were held this year. To make travel logistics easier once again, some races have been postponed. The reason for the return to Australia for the first race is also the Islamic fasting month of Ramadan, as Formula 1 and the International Automobile Federation explained in their announcement.
As this will be in March, the two races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia - where the first race weekends were held this year - have been postponed. Both are now scheduled for April. The booming US market is still included with the races in Miami, Austin and Las Vegas. The finale of the coming season will take place on December 7 in Abu Dhabi. In 2020, the season opener in Australia had to be canceled shortly before the first practice session due to the coronavirus pandemic. Formula 1 did not compete there in 2021 either.
