BossHoss at Woodstock
“It’s cool when you stand out somewhere”

How does one of Germany's best-known rock bands fit in with the Woodstock of brass music presented by "Krone", which is taking place in Ort im Innkreis from June 27 to 30 this year? "Of course, we thought to ourselves at first: 'Does this even suit us? But we have brass players in our band and sometimes it's cool to stand out somewhere - so I think we're just right there," says frontman Alec Völkel, who is looking forward to performing in front of thousands of party-goers.
And because the band around Völkel and second lead singer Sascha Vollmer is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the performance in Austria is something very special for The BossHoss: "We love Austria. Our first hit 'Don't gimme that' was in the top 10 in Germany in 2012, but at number one in Austria. At the time, we thought to ourselves: 'What's going on now?' And that's why this country will always be very important to us," enthuses Völkel in the "Krone" interview.
Only rarely do they argue
Do the two still like each other after 20 years of working together almost every day? "It was love at first sight between us. We met at an advertising agency and both had a band at the time. We then spent a lot of time together, going to bars. The BossHoss was actually a 'crazy idea' - we recorded cover songs and at some point it developed a momentum of its own. Of course we argue sometimes, but it's never really gotten to the point," says Völkel about his relationship with his best friend.
Duo will explore the festival grounds
Before the band conquers the Main Stage in the Innviertel at 10.30 pm on Saturday, June 29, the friends will explore the area: "We will definitely go for a spin there, that's something you don't experience every day for us either."
And what can the Woodstockers look forward to when the mood makers perform? "Playing at a festival is something very special. People don't just come there because of us, you have to convince them in a completely different way and step on the gas. We play all our hits," says Völkel full of anticipation.
