Romanian speeds through roadworks near Thalgau

On Friday, a Romanian was speeding at 141 km/h through the roadworks area on the A1 between Thalgau and Mondsee - at the legal speed limit of 80 km/h. The man did not show any understanding during the check.

The Salzburg police caught the 35-year-old man from Romania on Friday night on the Westautobahn (A1). In the roadworks area between Thalgau and Mondsee, the police recorded a speed of 141 km/h against the speed limit of 80 km/h. The Romanian driver did not show any signs of understanding during the check and stated that he urgently needed to go to Romania. His driver's license was confiscated on the spot and a security deposit was also collected.

A security deposit also had to be collected from a 27-year-old Italian. The man was not in possession of a driving license valid in Austria when he was stopped in the city of Salzburg.

Police officers noticed that an Austrian articulated lorry stopped on the A1 near the Salzburg Exhibition Center did not have functioning brake lights on its trailer. The 49-year-old driver was prohibited from continuing his journey until the defect had been repaired.

Several drunk drivers on the road
In the area of the Münchner Bundesstraße, the officers noticed a car that was apparently driving too fast. A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol level of 1.06 per mille. The driver was forbidden to continue driving and his license was confiscated.

Officers also confiscated two driving licenses in St. Michael im Lungau. A 32-year-old man from Lungau was driving his car with a blood alcohol level of 1.68 and a 25-year-old local man with a blood alcohol level of 0.94. Both had to temporarily surrender their driving licenses and will be reported to the police.
