62-year-old was seriously injured during forestry work

A 62-year-old woman was seriously injured during forestry work in Königswiesen because trees became wedged when being pulled away with a cable winch and were thrown against her foot. The seriously injured woman was flown by helicopter to hospital in Amstetten.

A 62-year-old woman from the Freistadt district was carrying out forestry work alone in a forest in Königswiesen - the so-called Stiftinger Forst - on Tuesday. At around 4 p.m., the woman wanted to pull tree trunks away with a cable winch, but they became wedged. When she tried to loosen them, the tree trunks were thrown against the 62-year-old's right foot.

Employees alerted
She was injured to an indeterminate degree, but was able to call an employee. The employee took the woman home and alerted the emergency services. After first aid, the 62-year-old was flown to the Amstetten Regional Hospital in the "Christophorus 15" rescue helicopter.
