Large Carinthian companies train the skilled workers they need themselves. This week, some young apprentices began their careers. And next week, life will begin in earnest for a number of pupils: separate groups are to prevent problem pupils from being suspended.

The number of problem pupils has been steadily increasing in Austria for years and is becoming more and more of a challenge for teachers. "You can't compare Carinthia with Vienna. We have around 68,000 pupils, 15 of whom cannot attend school. That's a small proportion," says Isabella Penz, Carinthian Director of Education.
