Seven ÖBB ticket machines broken into

Criminals have targeted several ticket machines at Salzburg railroad stations: According to the police, seven of them were broken into, causing damage of 30,000 euros. 

The crimes took place on Thursday night, according to the Salzburg police. Ticket machines in Bad Vigaun, Hallein-Burgfried, Hallwang, Salzburg-Kasern, Eugendorf, Mattighofen (Upper Austria) and Lengau-Friedburg (Upper Austria) were affected. The police did not provide any information about the amount of the loot. However, the damage to property probably amounted to at least 30,000 euros.

ÖBB is appealing to passengers who wish to purchase a ticket from the ticket machines at the affected stations to contact the fault hotline. The number can be found directly on the machines. There, callers will receive a fault number which they can use to purchase a ticket directly from the train attendants at the price of the ticket machine. ÖBB is endeavoring to repair the damage as quickly as possible and restore normal operation at the ticket machines.
