Eleven people killed in devastating fire in Manila

Eleven people died in a fire in the Philippine capital Manila on Friday morning. 14 fire engines were deployed. The fire in the predominantly Chinese district of Binondo was reportedly under control after two hours.

According to initial information from the security service, the fire was caused by a leak in a liquid gas tank in one of the building's canteens.

The first floor housed stores and stores, while the upper floors were occupied by residential units.

Following the fire, the Manila city authorities ordered an inspection of all buildings in the city.

In particular, buildings that are at least 15 years old and pose a higher fire risk should be inspected.
