3:4 in Klagenfurt
Now it’s burning brightly in Salzburg
The Bulls embarrassed themselves in a 4-3 defeat in Klagenfurt. The champions conceded four goals in the second half in their embarrassing defeat at Wörthersee. Because Sturm won 3:1 at Rapid, the championship title is now in grave danger.
A total collective failure. There is no other way to explain the second-half performance of soccer champions Salzburg in their league match in Klagenfurt. The Bulls conceded four (!) goals in 45 minutes against the blatant underdogs and lost a game in which they had everything under control for a half by 3:4. The initial hope that things would improve under new coach Onur Cinel compared to his predecessor Gerhard Struber has already evaporated. The title is in grave danger - Salzburg are on fire!
At first, everything seemed to be going according to plan, with the favorites getting off to a good start. Karim Konate confirmed his improving form and put into practice what he had criticized before the game: the effectiveness of his chances. The 20-year-old converted his first two chances to give the favorites an early 2:0 lead.
"I'm shocked"
Anyone who thought that the team from Mozartstadt would comfortably see the game out was proved wrong. Salzburg lacked everything you need to win a soccer match in the second half. And Klagenfurt's Irving took the Bulls by the horns, almost single-handedly destroying them with his three goals (Bonnah also scored). "I'm shocked," said Konate after the final whistle. Strahinja Pavlovic's final goal came too late. To make matters worse, the Serbian also received a yellow card for criticism and is therefore suspended for the match against Sturm. "Extremely annoying," sighed Cinel.
Speaking of Sturm: Graz won 3:1 at Rapid to take the lead in the table and go into the clash with a broad chest. LASK celebrated a 2:1 away win in Hartberg.
