Targeted “power surge” for the city center of St. Pölten

The ÖVP is sounding the alarm: a lively city center needs footfall generators, parking spaces, a mix of businesses and a good atmosphere - something that is increasingly being lost in St. Pölten in the opinion of the opposition and merchants.

The provincial capital is well ahead in the rankings when it comes to the decline in retail space. According to the ÖVP, this is confirmed by the figures of the so-called City Retail Health Check. It is therefore high time to act: With twelve motions concerning St. Pölten's city center, the Black Party wants to give the necessary impetus to the political "heart rhythm disturbances of recent years" in the next municipal council next Monday.

"We want a strong beating heart for the provincial capital," emphasizes club chairman Florian Krumböck. It is time for the municipal council to finally reach for the pacemaker, as the uncertainty among entrepreneurs and merchants is great, as confirmed by Mario Burger, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce. Better framework conditions are urgently needed here. "A city center thrives on ambience, accessibility and a good mix of sectors," explains Burger.

Attracting visitors to the city
In St. Pölten, however, it is becoming increasingly difficult to come to the city. According to the opposition, a strengthening package should help: for example by means of a location analysis, a frequency survey using mobile phone data, a parking guidance system and strengthening the image.
