Oscar winner Jodie Foster (61) got down on one knee in Hollywood and was immortalized alongside many other stars from the film industry. It was a very special day for her, and not just because of the cement ceremony. She was also celebrating her tenth wedding anniversary with her wife.

On the famous forecourt of the TCL Chinese Theatre in the Californian film metropolis, she pressed both hands into the wet cement on Friday. Her footprints were also immortalized. Barefoot and grinning, Foster stood in the gray mass. The tribute took place as part of the ongoing "Turner Classic Movies" film festival.

Foster carved her name, the date and a heart into the cement. This kind of tribute was a "crazy, absurd, wonderful thing", said the actress in her acceptance speech.

Tenth wedding anniversary
She reminisced about her childhood with four siblings in Hollywood, with bike rides in the hills and flowers in front of the house. She would have visited the movie theater forecourt back then and pressed her own hands into the prints of movie stars.

She is grateful that those around her believe she now deserves her own imprint in the cement, Foster said. She also thanked her wife, actress Alexandra Hedison (54).

The ceremony on Friday took place on the couple's tenth wedding anniversary of all days.

Filming as a three-year-old
Foster was once the prototype of the Hollywood child star. She was already shooting commercials at the age of three, and at 13 she played an underage prostitute alongside Robert De Niro in "Taxi Driver". This was the first of her five Oscar nominations.

In 1988, she played a rape victim in the film "Accused" and won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

The second trophy followed for her role as young FBI agent Clarice Starling in the psychological thriller "The Silence of the Lambs" (1992). This year, Foster was nominated for her supporting role as a swimming coach in the film biopic "Nyad".
