Drunk driver ends up in a field after rollover

An almost spectacular drink-driving accident occurred on Tuesday evening in the municipality of Niederneukirchen. A German citizen left the road, raced up an embankment, flew through the air and landed roughly in a field, where he rolled over. He was taken to hospital.

The accident took its course at around 8.25 p.m.: at the beginning of a long left-hand bend, a 43-year-old man from Germany drove off the road in his car and first ran over two crash barriers in the ditch.

He then crashed into the adjacent embankment and took off: the car flew around 20 meters through the air and fell into a field, where it rolled over once and finally came to rest on the driver's side. 

Witness provided first aid
The driver was able to free himself from the totally destroyed wreckage. A witness of the same age who was following behind had witnessed the accident, informed the emergency services and immediately began first aid measures. The alcohol test was positive and the German was taken to hospital.
