After the digital edition in Tokyo and Beijing due to the coronavirus pandemic, there will once again be an Austria House in the tried and tested form at the Olympic Games in Paris. ÖOC Secretary General Peter Mennel signed a corresponding contract on Friday, the "Austria House" is located in the "Pavillon Montsouris" in the south of the French metropolis, the 14th arrondissement. The opening is planned for July 25.

The pavilion was opened in 1889 and is adjacent to a 15-hectare park. "We have chosen a location that combines a unique flair and flexible use with numerous other advantages: the site is lively, has a high footfall and is still family-friendly," said Mennel. Various areas for guests from the worlds of sport, tourism, business, politics and the media are planned in the Pavillon Montsouris. In addition to the VIP area, there will also be a public hospitality area.

"This is unique"
"Bienvenue l'Autriche! We are proud to welcome Austria, France and the world during the Olympic Games and to be part of the biggest sporting event in the world. This is unique in our long history," Yvan Caurault, owner of the Pavillon Montsouris, is quoted as saying in an ÖOC statement.
