A 60-year-old skier was resuscitated last Friday in the Zürs am Arlberg ski area after collapsing. The German, who was skiing with his wife, suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness.
The incident occurred at the Trittalp valley station. Two doctors who happened to be passing by immediately began resuscitation measures. A lift employee immediately alerted the piste rescue service, which sent a piste rescuer equipped with a defibrillator.
Within a very short time, the crew of the Gallus 1 emergency helicopter stationed nearby also arrived at the valley station.
Successful resuscitation
The man was successfully resuscitated on the spot. He was then taken by helicopter to Feldkirch Regional Hospital. Thanks to the rapid intervention of the doctors who happened to be present, the piste rescue team, the crew of the Gallus 1 emergency helicopter and the well-functioning rescue chain, the patient survived the incident.
