Two seriously injured in an accident on the B320
Once again, there was a devastating accident involving three vehicles on the B320 Ennstal federal highway in Upper Styria on Good Friday. Four people were injured, some of them seriously - an eight-year-old girl's life is in danger.
The terrible accident occurred on the morning of Good Friday on the B320 at the Liezen exit. A truck, a minibus and a car were involved in the collision. The exact cause of the accident has yet to be determined. According to the police, the truck driver stated that the car had come into his lane. The side impact caused the car to be thrown against the minibus.
"A veritable battlefield"
The result of the accident was terrible, as Christoph Schlüßlmayr, spokesman for the Liezen area fire brigade association, reports: "The scene presented the emergency services with a real battlefield. The driver of the car was severely trapped in his vehicle due to the force of the collision. The use of hydraulic rescue equipment was absolutely essential to free him from the vehicle."
It took an hour to free the man. An eight-year-old girl was sitting in the back seat of the vehicle - although she was freed more quickly, according to initial information from the fire department, she was critically injured and flown to Graz Regional Hospital.
A total of four people had to be rescued by the emergency services and treated by paramedics and emergency doctors from the Red Cross and the Christophorus 14 emergency helicopter. Two of the accident victims suffered serious injuries.
The main road was closed to traffic for around an hour in the morning, and local detour were set up through the Liezen urban area.
