Animal bite suspected
Short circuit: fire causes 150,000 euros in damage
The cause of a devastating fire in Neckenmarkt has been clarified. The roof of a farm building went up in flames within a very short space of time. The damage is enormous. Investigations by forensics officers have now revealed that a short circuit in the power grid may have triggered the fire.
Almost a week ago, in the early hours of the morning, a large fire raged in the farm building of a 60-year-old resident from Neckenmarkt. A neighbor had raised the alarm. Forensic investigations confirmed that the fire had broken out in the roof truss. And exactly where all the power lines converge.
No technical defect
Apparently a short circuit ignited the fire. According to the fire investigators, an animal bite could be the cause. After analyzing the evidence, there is no indication of an overload or an installation fault, they say. The possibility of third-party fault has therefore been ruled out. The property damage, which amounts to 150,000 euros, is likely to be covered by insurance.
Mother and child saved themselves
A fire broke out in the outbuilding of a residential building in Dörfl at around 2 p.m. on Tuesday with a bang, as local residents reported. The noise also startled the owner, who was at home with her daughter. When the worried woman looked out of the window, flames were already shooting out of the annexe. Dark clouds of smoke were rising.
Mother and child immediately ran outside. The fire departments from Steinberg, Dörfl, Piringsdorf, Oberpullendorf and the FF-Drohne from Pinkafeld were deployed. All that remained of the extension was a ruin. The cause is still being investigated.
