With truck on cycle path
Truck driver failed to escape after three accidents
In the end, the truck was stuck on a cycle path in Upper Austria for more than seven hours and could go no further. What had been going through the 54-year-old driver's mind on his journey beforehand will probably remain his secret. He caused a total of three accidents.
One after the other: Between two and five in the morning on Sunday, the 54-year-old Bulgarian was driving his truck from the B 149 towards Suben. In the process, he hit two house walls and also drove into a garden fence. Nevertheless, none of the three accidents resulted in injuries, but the truck driver, who was not entirely sure of his lane, caused several cases of property damage.
Stuck for seven hours
But even this did not stop the 54-year-old: After the last accident, he kept pressing the accelerator and tried to flee via the Innradweg, but got stuck with his truck, according to the police.
And then more than seven hours passed. It was not until around 12.30 p.m. that an employee of a company in Suben became aware of the truck and its desperate driver. The police were alerted and took the vehicle keys from the 54-year-old. A breathalyzer test at midday still showed 0.5 per mille.
