Many a driver on the city highway in Salzburg on Monday morning probably thought they weren't quite awake when they saw this: a tank mingled with road users in the early morning traffic. The "Krone" knows where the heavy vehicle was headed.

A typical Monday morning, seven o'clock in the morning, there is a lot of traffic on Salzburg's city highway. After the vacations, it's back to work for many people in Salzburg!

The army was also on its way to work this morning. Albeit with a somewhat conspicuous service vehicle: a 22-ton "Greif" armored recovery vehicle was being transported on a low-loader in the direction of Lower Austria.

A picture that the people of Salzburg will see more often in the coming days. This is because the Austrian army is transferring several armored vehicles from Salzburg's Pioneer Battalion 2 to the Allentsteig military training area in Lower Austria for training purposes.

The Salzburg Pioneers specialize in pioneer support in the mountains and field camp construction. For this purpose, Pioneer Battalion 2 has equipment that is unique in the Austrian Armed Forces, such as two material ropeways and comprehensive field camp infrastructure equipment.
