The Italian national soccer team's dismal performance in the European Championship round of 16 against Switzerland has also left its mark on goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The PSG goalkeeper apologized to all the fans after the game.

"I don't understand what happened today. We can't afford a performance like that. All we can do is apologize to all the fans in Italy and around the world," PSG goalkeeper Donnarumma addressed the media after the game. 

Spalletti seeks an explanation
The 25-year-old was visibly disappointed and had to wrestle with his emotions. Nevertheless, the captain answered questions from the Italian reporters immediately after the elimination.

At home, the "Azzurri's" dismal performance will certainly cause plenty of resentment. Coach Luciano Spalletti is unlikely to remain on the sidelines. The coach, for his part, tried to find an excuse after the game: "Rhythm and freshness made the difference today."
