EURO: Nagelsmann provides a squad surprise

This comes as a surprise! Julian Nagelsmann, who had announced in advance that he wanted to go to the European Championships with four goalkeepers, has apparently changed his plan: According to German media reports, the national coach has dropped Stuttgart keeper Alexander Nübel from the EURO squad.

"We have nominated four goalkeepers and will also go into the European Championships with four goalkeepers. There will be no more duels. Nübel has earned his nomination because Bernd Leno, who would actually have been nominated, is injured," Nagelsmann had emphasized in mid-May. But now the U-turn: As reported by "Bild" and Sky, Alexander Nübel's European Championship dream has been dashed.

Quintet breathes a sighof relief
 Maximilian Beier, Robin Koch, Chris Führich, Aleksandar Pavlovic and David Raum were recently considered as possible strike candidates. The quintet can now breathe a sigh of relief as Nagelsmann has opted for all of his 23 outfield players.

The coach will officially announce his decision after tonight's international match against Greece (8.45pm/live in the sportkrone.at ticker). A maximum squad of 26 players must be submitted to UEFA by midnight.
