Opening coup in Neusiedl followed a belly landing in Graz

Last weekend, Jakob Reiter from Dornbirn was able to celebrate second place at the win2day Beach Volleyball Tour PRO Masters in Neusiedl am See alongside Timo Hammarberg. On Saturday at the open event in Graz, the 25-year-old, who competed in Styria with Michi Klemen, was eliminated in the hope round.

Reiter and his Carinthian partner - with whom he had already competed in tournaments last season - got off to a confident start. The number three seeded duo won their first group match against the Viennese qualifiers Florian Mader and Christoph Führer without any major problems with 21:17 and 21:16.

Local heroes have the advantage
In the battle for a direct place in the quarter-finals, Reiter/Klemen then faced local heroes Florian Ertl and Johnny Kratz. In a close duel, the Styrians finally got the upper hand with 21:18, 21:15. "They simply succeeded in everything," Reiter analyzed afterwards.

Duel with the partner from the previous week
Then there was also bad luck in the draw, with Tim Berger/Timo Hammarberg the toughest possible duo in the hope round. Despite a spirited fight, Reiter/Klemen were beaten 17:21, 18:21. "Of course it's bitter to fail so early," Reiter made no secret of his disappointment. "But better at a tournament like this than in Wolfurt, for example."
