Excavator rolls in for Hilton hotel in Klagenfurt

The international hotel chain will move into the Renaissance Palais Salzamt.

Back in December 2022, the "Krone" newspaper reported that the global hotel chain Hilton was planning to gain a foothold in Klagenfurt. Now the time has apparently come: the striking Renaissance Salzamt Palace near the Landhaus - right in the heart of the city - is to be extensively renovated.

According to the investor group Lilihill, 22.3 million euros are to be invested in the project. The aim is to take city tourism to a new level. "The renovation work on the Salzamt is already underway," confirms Mayor Christian Scheider.

It is very pleasing that such a renowned company as Hilton wants to establish itself here.

Coffee house, restaurant and guest garden
75 luxurious rooms and suites are to be built on a total area of 5500 square meters. A restaurant is planned for the first floor, and the Renaissance building will also house a coffee house and a bar with a guest garden. However, the historical ambience of the palace is to be modernized with great care. The central point of the new hotel will be a lobby in the magnificent arcaded courtyard.

"Those responsible at Lilihill have assured me that the work is right on schedule," says Scheider. Incidentally, with 7200 hotels in 120 countries, Hilton is one of the largest hotel groups in the world.
