Traffic jams on the A10 again during Easter

Easter is just around the corner and with it more traffic. Asfinag is expecting significant delays on the A10. More traffic is expected as early as Thursday.

The Easter travel weekend is approaching and will cause significantly more traffic, especially on the well-known travel routes. This year's Easter travel is likely to be dominated by day trips and short breaks. Due to the early date of Easter, trips to warmer regions are likely to be the exception. However, as Good Friday is a public holiday in Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, more traffic can be expected from Maundy Thursday onwards, especially on the western route towards Hungary and on the A 9 Pyhrnautobahn. The return journey is then expected for Easter Monday. Waiting times and longer journey times cannot be ruled out.

While some ski resorts have already had to end the winter season due to the poor snow conditions, larger resorts in the west in particular will remain open until the Easter weekend. Increased traffic volumes are therefore also to be expected in these regions.

Once again, this applies in particular to the A 10 Tauernautobahn in Salzburg, where there will be significant delays before the tunnel construction site between Golling Werfen. ASFINAG advises checking the traffic situation before setting off (e.g. via the webcams in the free ASFINAG app). Information on the current and future forecast traffic situation on the A 10 can also be found at www.asfinag.at/a10.

Delays at border crossings
Traffic jams are possible at the Nickelsdorf (A 4), Kittsee (A 6), Spielfeld (A 9) and Karawanken Tunnel (A 11) borders due to the border controls in place. Due to Croatia's Schengen accession, traffic jams are expected to be heavier than in recent years, especially at the borders coming from Slovenia. Border controls when entering Germany will also remain in place. There may therefore also be waiting times at the Kufstein (A 12), Walserberg (A 1) and Suben (A 8) border crossings.
