A 38-year-old Styrian completely escalated during a police check in Linz. The man repeatedly drove at police officers, then fled briefly and even spat food at the end. The man refused to take a breathalyzer test. Now the Styrian is facing charges.

Police officers carried out driver and vehicle checks in a side lane of Salzburger Straße in Linz at around 9.30 pm. Shortly before they had finished checking one car, another car approached the officers at excessive speed.

Caused the engine to roar
The police officers - who were in plain clothes - gave the driver clear hand signals to reduce his speed. The driver then braked abruptly in front of the officers and they identified themselves as police officers. When the driver realized that he was dealing with police officers, he revved his engine several times. He also indicated that he would continue driving against the officers' instructions by letting his car drive away briefly several times, only to brake again immediately and steer in the direction of the police officers.

Driver fled
He then accelerated his car and tried to flee. The police officers took up the chase and were able to find the man, a 38-year-old from the district of Weiz, standing next to his car after a short pursuit. During the check, he refused to take a breathalyzer test, so the car keys were taken from him.

"The 38-year-old behaved extremely aggressively during the entire police operation, gesticulating with his hands, shouting at the police officers at close range and spitting his food around," said the police in a statement. After several warnings and threats of arrest, he calmed down again. He will be charged.
