Two-country patrol apprehended young runaway

A cross-border patrol with Austrian and Czech police officers caught a Czech teenager (17) at Linz railroad station who had run away from a home. She was accompanied by her mother and her mother's boyfriend. The runaway was immediately returned home.

On Thursday, a police patrol with colleagues from Upper Austria and the Czech Republic carried out train checks from Praha in the direction of Linz main station. At around 9.30 p.m., a 17-year-old girl was found on the train in the presence of her mother and her boyfriend. The search revealed that the 17-year-old had been reported missing on February 3, 2025 and was wanted. The Czech authorities were informed immediately.

Mother has no custody
The 17-year-old had gone missing from a children's home in Pocátky.
It also emerged that the mother, who was also present and lives in Linz, has no custody of the child according to the Czech authorities. In close cooperation with the Czech authorities and with the support of the Czech official present, it was subsequently possible to arrange for the child to be transported back to the Czech Republic.

Handed over in Wullowitz
After a medical examination by the police doctor, the missing child was handed over unharmed to a patrol at the Wullowitz border crossing and to a child curator who had also been informed by the Czech police authorities. Further transportation back to the Pocátky children's home was arranged by the Czech authorities.
