Milestone for health: hospital expands

Waiern Hospital near Feldkirchen is being expanded: a clinic for addiction, psychosomatics, eating disorders and geriatric medicine is being built.

This is a milestone in the history of Waiern Hospital," says a delighted Astrid Körner, Rector of Diakonie. As the existing site in Treffen with 54 beds is being relocated to Waiern, the official ground-breaking ceremony for the hospital extension has now taken place there.

Provincial Councillor Beate Prettner: "The province is investing 33 million euros. The areas of addiction, psychosomatics, geriatric medicine and eating disorders are becoming increasingly important." The major Waiern Clinic construction project is a response to the growing need for medical care. Körner: "After completion, we will offer 130 beds in Waiern. 200 employees will be working there in future."

The expansion will take place during ongoing operations. According to Diakonie board member Walter Pansi, patients will of course be taken into consideration. Everything should be ready in two years.
