New building in the Paulinum
Classrooms without boundaries for long school days
With a new building, the Bischöfliches Gymnasium Paulinum in Schwaz now has very special rooms to offer, especially for all-day pupils. They will soon be officially opened at a blessing ceremony.
"The classroom is the third educator alongside the teachers and classmates," said the Italian educationalist Loris Malaguzzi. And it also contributes to the personal development of young people. The Bischöfliches Gymnasium Paulinum takes a similar view.
Terraces with a view of the city
Work began there in May 2023 on an extension with three floors of around 150 square meters each and terraces with a view of the city of Schwaz and the Stanser Joch. "We were finally able to move into the long-awaited new building at the start of the second semester," said a delighted Headmaster Elmar Fiechter-Alber. In addition to four classes, the library and "reading lounge" were also able to move into the new building.
Learning and chilling out in the fresh air
All-day pupils in particular should benefit from different learning environments. "Being at school until 4.15 p.m. almost every day is more exhausting than you might think. The new building offers us a wide range of opportunities to learn and chill out in the fresh air or in the homerooms," say Nora Biele and Arno Kammerlander enthusiastically about their classes.
So far, this is the best timber construction I have had the pleasure of accompanying.

Pollutant-free building materials
Incidentally, the building complex was constructed as a timber passive house - including a photovoltaic system on the roof. When selecting the building materials, particular attention was paid to using non-toxic products. The indoor air test also turned out accordingly. "So far, this is the best timber construction I've had the pleasure of supervising," said project supervisor Christina Krimbacher.
The new building will be blessed by Bishop Hermann Glettler at a ceremony on April 26.
