In step with each other
Austria and Pinzgau show no weaknesses
Kufstein and Dornbirner SV were no stumbling blocks for Austria Salzburg and FC Pinzgau respectively. The Violets conceded four goals in Tirol, while Saalfelden failed to make the most of their chances in front of the eyes of karateka Marina Vukovic. There was a lively game in Bischofshofen.
The disappointment of being denied a license had no effect on the Austria Salzburg team. The Violets continue to lead the Westliga and won 4:0 in Kufstein. Rene Zia, Marinko Sorda, Johannes Zottl and 16-year-old Timo Kulterer netted in front of 1000 fans. "We certainly played a very good game and deserved to win," said manager Christian Schaider, who was very pleased with the result. Especially because the team had to do without two regulars, Yannic Fötschl and Alex Schwaighofer. Striker Fötschl injured himself in training on Thursday with suspected torn ligaments in his ankle and will definitely be out for longer, while Schwaighofer was sick in bed all week.
The afternoon also went well for Pinzgau. However, the team from Saalfelden struggled to make the most of their chances and only just won 3:2 in front of karateka Marina Vukovic. "We had to score the fourth and fifth goal, but it happened," said Joao Pedro self-critically. "I think we struggled to get into the game at the start. After 3:1, you have to make it 4:1, then it's actually over," summed up coach Hannes Schützinger. His team have a tough program ahead of them. On Tuesday, they will play in the regional cup in Grödig for a place in the final, and on Saturday they will travel to Ländle to play Altach Juniors. "It's going to be an intense week."
The match between Bischofshofen and Imst was also intense - 3:3. The team from Pongau let a 3:1 lead slip and conceded the equalizer in the 92nd minute.
Austria Salzburg continue to lead the table with 46 points. FC Pinzgau are now four points behind, while Hohenems can draw level on points with the Saalfelden side on Sunday. Bischofshofen are eighth in mid-table.
