Car accidents: Against guardrail and noise barrier
After the terrible fatal accident on the Drautalstrasse early on Friday morning, the Carinthian rescue services had more road accidents on the emergency plan. Five people were injured in a car accident on the south highway alone.
A man from Vienna (48) was driving in his car with four other people on the southern freeway towards Italy, but at Tainach the car veered off the road to the right, collided with the crash barrier, was thrown across the road against the concrete central crash barrier and skidded for another 40 meters. The right front wheel was torn off due to the impact.
The driver and his passenger were taken to Klagenfurt Hospital, the other occupants were slightly injured and treated by the ambulance on the scene.
A towing company removed the wreckage from the scene of the accident. The Völkermarkt and Poggersdorf fire departments and the Klagenfurt highway maintenance department were also deployed.
Only dozed off briefly
A few hours later, a 60-year-old man from the St. Veit district was driving on the Seebergbundesstraße in the direction of Brückl. As he told the police, he nodded off in Rain and the car crashed into a concrete drainage shaft, several road barriers and finally head-on into a noise barrier. The driver was injured and taken to hospital. The car was a total loss.
Tractor overturned
A tractor driver was only slightly injured in an accident in Linsenberg near Poggersdorf on Friday: The 79-year-old had been plowing a field, but went over the edge of the embankment while reversing. The tractor tipped over and fell about two and a half meters down the embankment. The man received medical treatment at the scene of the accident. The tractor also sustained hardly any damage.
